The British Institute of Fitted Interiors Specialists (BIFIS) is proud to announce the re-signing of the Armed Forces Covenant ahead of Remembrance Day 2025.

This significant event marks both BIFIS ongoing commitment to supporting the Armed Forces Community and celebrates its recent name change. The original pledge was made on 11 February 2020, and today’s reaffirmation underlines “our enduring support for all those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, as well as their families”, according to BIFIS CEO Damian Walters.

The Armed Forces Covenant is an enduring promise between the people of the United Kingdom, His Majesty’s Government, and all those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces of the Crown, together with their families. It recognises the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces in defence of our realm and the vital role played by their families, and it upholds the principle that no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage compared to other citizens. Special consideration is rightly given in certain circumstances, especially to those who have suffered injury or bereavement.

BIFIS remains dedicated to upholding the key principles of the Covenant, ensuring fair treatment and support for serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and military families. As part of the pledge, BIFIS will continue to promote its Armed Forces-friendly status across all stakeholders, including staff, customers, suppliers, and the wider public. BIFIS is committed to supporting employees who are reservists or cadet organisation volunteers by offering additional paid leave and encouraging their participation. It also champions the employment and recognition of veterans, valuing their skills and qualifications.

Moreover, BIFIS provide flexibility and support for service spouses and partners, particularly during deployment periods. BIFIS participation in national events such as Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal, and Remembrance activities further demonstrates its ongoing commitment. BIFIS supports Armed Forces charities through fundraising and volunteering, and offer commercial discounts to members of the Armed Forces community for registration to the organisation.

According to BIFIS Director of Marketing & Communication, Michelle Daniels, “These commitments will be publicised via our literature and website, inviting feedback from the Service community and our stakeholders.”

Damian Walters, BIFIS CEO said: “As we renew our pledge to the Armed Forces Covenant ahead of this Remembrance Day, we do so not only as a reaffirmation of our support for serving personnel, veterans, and their families, but also in solemn remembrance of all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. At BIFIS, we recognise the immense value and selflessness that the Armed Forces Community brings to our society and our business. Our commitment remains unwavering and we will continue to honour, respect, and support those who have served and those who continue to serve, ensuring they face no disadvantage and are given every opportunity to thrive in civilian life. Today, as we mark a new step in our company’s journey, we pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice that underpin our nation’s freedom.”

BIFIS is a current Silver Award recipient of the Armed Forces Employer Recognition Scheme and have confirmed today that it intends on progressing to Gold Award status, playing a greater advocacy role for the wider fitted interiors industry in its 20th Anniversary year in 2026.
